The Cabot:  An Irreplaceable North Shore Treasure
This opulent neoclassical-style theater was built in 1920 by the renowned architectural firm, Funk & Wilcox, and opened as a dream palace of vaudeville and silent movies.  At the time, it was hailed as “the most impressive auditorium of its size east of New York.”  Today, The Cabot is one of only 250 similar movie palaces that still exist out of an estimated 20,000 theaters built in the 1920’s.  Since its reopening in 2014, The Cabot is being transformed into a 21st century venue for audiences of all ages, with nationally-recognized live performers, current and classic movies, and community events.
